Bean One

University District, Seattle.
Campus Parkway viaduct; underneath Roosevelt Way.

Part of the art murals being painted under the viaduct.

17 August 2004: This is the first new TBC writing I've seen all summer. And it's from a new/different member of TBC.

Cereal

University District, Seattle.

Cereal is the most prolific of The Breakfast Club. This tag sprouts up all over the U-District. Although some TBC tags have been spotted in other neighborhoods, they are largely confined to the U-District.

15 August 2004: I've seen a distinct lack of new Cereal/TBC throw-ups all summer. Are they a group of UW people or have they moved on to new grounds?

Cold K
Capitol Hill, Seattle.
Bus Stop; Thomas St. & 19th Ave.

Cold K burst on the scene around April (?) 2004 with tags in the U-District, Capitol Hill, and many other neighborhoods. Cold K is fairly widespread and people seem to have gone gaga for his work. Frankly, I've seen a lot better (some of the nice BOTW work comes to mind). Cold K is a pretty simple tag of marginal, amateurish quality.

"heart-like thing"

University District, Seattle.
41st Street; 12th Ave to Brooklyn Ave.

This one came and went in May 2004. I've seen similar tags since, but not this same one. By far, it was the most involved of the "Jackson Pollock" style of graffiti which looks like paint dripped onto the sidewalk.

17 August 2004: Apparently, I was looking at this all wrong... upside down. I ran across this site (opens in new window) which describes this image as Cigarette Girl.

University District, Seattle.
Solstice Cafe.

This appear in the men's bathroom at Solstice soetime around March 2004 and stayed up for a number of weeks. Only after Pi and the Mathematician added their tags to the walls were they painted over. I would later see another one of these mysterious hens by the art supply store. Unfortunately, it got painted over before I could photograph it. In July 2004, I saw this image again on the Campus Parkway viaduct mural.

"wrong math"

University District, Seattle.
NE 47th St. & 11th Ave. NE; NE corner.

Although "1+1=3" is the most common, various permutations of incorrect math have been spotted. Same person? One group?

π

University District, Seattle.
8th Ave NE just south of NE 47th St.

Pi is all over the place... with slight variations to the tag. Some have weird diacritical marks, others have varying numbers of dots after the tag. This one is probably the most widespread tag I've seen.

"spikey fist bone"

Pioneer Squaer/SODO, Seattle.
1st Ave South, near Alaskan Way.

I like this sticker. I've seen it all over Pioneer Square and the U-District. At one point, I saw it stencilled. Otherwise, though, it appears as a sticker.

I don't know what this thing is supposed to be so I don't have a good name for it other than the ridiculous name that I call it.

Handy little roster of members. I wonder of the Molly Ringwald character can write with the spray can stuck in her cleavage?
