The day after the banner was annotated, it was moved inside the fence in order to discourage subsequent readers from adding their own comments to the document. Note that no attempt was made to remove the annotation from the banner, thus implying a sort of tacit sanction of the reader's comments and sentiments. In fact, by placing it behind the fence, the banner became a somewhat protected and preserved document spared further comments and annotations. It became a display piece.

A few weeks after this incident, the banner disappeared for a number of days...

...but it re-emerged eventually, rehung in a more proper display space. Note the excellent centering of the banner within the space of what will be a window.

Most importantly, the original protest annotation was still left intact.
