Calligraphic Succession, Chipotle

changes in public writing tracked over time

Originally, a plywood wall was erected around the building during the construction of the new Chipotle. As seen in the picture, it was unpainted. The Breakfast Club, Cereal and Toast, took to it.

Additionally, Milk and Cookie, two of the less prominent members of TBC, lend their signatures.

At some point, the wall was painted.

Then, this deliberately crafted advertisement appeared overnight. It is deliberate, of course, because the flyers were carefully arranged (see next image for close-up) in alternating colors.

Notice the date of the show: 26 February 2004

This image was taken the day following the show, when the next obvious change had taken place.

Either the workers had deigned to be courteous and allowed the show flyers stay up until the day after the show, or it was just a result of pure serendipity.

The very next day: 28 February 2004

Apparently, somebody may not have been happy about the Burritofication occuring on the Ave.

Surprisingly, this is the way the wall remained for the next 3 weeks approximately. Finally, the wall was removed shortly before the newly remodeled building opened.

Chipotle Arrives.

This the facade now that the restaurant has finally opened.

As an aside, the sign ovrhanging the sidewalk is a nice piece of work: contemporary with just the right retro touch.
